What is an exchange engine?

En utbytesmotor är en färdigrenoverad motor som byter plats med din gamla. Du köper ett renoverat longblock med samma motorkod som originalet, din verkstad monterar det, och du skickar in din gamla motor som stomme. Stommepanten betalas tillbaka när stommen kommit in och godkänts.

Motorn byggs upp med nya slitdelar, kvalitetskontrolleras i vår verkstad före leverans och verifieras mot bilens VIN så att du får exakt rätt motorversion. Jämfört med en begagnad motor får du känd historik. Jämfört med en ny motor från tillverkaren betalar du normalt betydligt mindre.

What is included in a long block?

I stället för att reparera den skadade motorn på plats i bilen bygger vi ett komplett longblock, block, vevaxel, kolvar, lager och topplock, med samma motorkod som originalet, och skickar det till dig färdigt att montera. Din gamla motor, stommen, går tillbaka in i kretsloppet mot en stommepant som du får tillbaka när den skickats in och godkänts.

Since several car models and model years can share an engine code but differ in detail, we always verify the exact engine version against your VIN, the chassis number, before delivery, so you are guaranteed the correct engine for your car. A long block, the most common delivery form, comprises the block, crank assembly, pistons and cylinder head as a complete unit, ready to be installed in the car.

Remanufactured engine or used engine?

Many face the choice between a used engine from a damaged car and a remanufactured exchange engine. A used engine can have a lower price, but the history is rarely known: mileage, oil changes and previous damage are rarely verifiable afterwards, and the warranty is often short or missing entirely. A remanufactured exchange engine has instead gone through a complete reconditioning process, with new wear parts such as piston rings, bearings and gaskets, measured tolerances and a documented scope of work.

It comes with a 12 month warranty with no mileage limit, something that rarely comes with a used engine. Which option suits you depends on budget, timeframe and how long you plan to keep the car, but with an exchange engine you never have to guess what you are actually getting.

What does an exchange engine cost?

The price of an exchange engine is fixed and shown incl. VAT on every product page, together with a core deposit that is added and refunded once your old engine has been sent in and approved. The price depends on the engine family, size and scope of the reconditioning. In our range today, exchange engines run from 2 881,95 kr to 11 154,95 kr, an example of the full range from smaller petrol engines to heavier diesel engines.

Smaller petrol engines in cars normally sit in the lower part of the range, while larger diesel engines in heavier vehicles such as vans and commercial vehicles sit in the upper part. You see the full price picture, engine price and core deposit, before you even order, and never pay more than the price shown on the product page.

Delivery time and warranty

Delivery time normally approx. 1 week from your engine version being verified against the VIN, up to 2 weeks during high workload.

12 month warranty with no mileage limit. The warranty covers the engine itself. Installation labour and other workshop costs are not covered.

How to buy

You choose a brand from the list below or search using your registration number, and see straight away which engines fit your car. We verify the exact engine version against the chassis number, the VIN, before delivery, so the engine is guaranteed to match. You pay the price shown, including VAT and the core deposit, and the engine is delivered to your address.

Within 30 days you send in your old engine. You arrange the return transport yourself, and we are happy to give guidance on transport options if you are wondering how to sort it. Once the core has arrived and been approved, the core deposit is refunded to your original payment method.
