Terms of purchase - Meksta Butik

Version: Version 1.0, adopted 2026-08-25. Applies from 2026-08-25.

1. About these terms and about us

These terms of purchase apply when you shop at Meksta Butik. The shop is operated by:

Meksta AB: Company registration number: 559461-1310VAT registration number: SE559461131001Address: Studiovägen 1A, 135 48 TyresöEmail: info@meksta.sePhone: 076-324 10 66

Meksta Butik is part of Meksta AB.

These terms apply to both consumers and business customers unless otherwise stated. For business customers, the special provisions in point 12 also apply. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law, including konsumentköplagen (2022:260) (the Swedish Consumer Sales Act) and lagen (2005:59) om distansavtal och avtal utanför affärslokaler (the Swedish Act on distance contracts and off-premises contracts).

To shop with us you must be at least 18 years old.

2. Ordering, VIN verification and when the contract is formed

2.1 How ordering works

  1. 1You order through the online shop or via a quote from us. When you buy an exchange engine you pay the engine price and a core deposit, these are always shown as separate lines before you pay (see points 3 and 8).
  2. 2When you order, you enter the car's registration number and, if you have it to hand, the chassis number (VIN, 17 characters). If you do not have the VIN at the time of purchase, we will ask for it straight afterwards. The build cannot start without a verified VIN, and the lead time is calculated from when we received the number.
  3. 3You receive an order confirmation by email with a summary of your order.

2.2 VIN verification before the build starts

The same engine code can exist in several versions. Before the build starts we therefore always verify the exact engine version against your VIN. Verification is always included and costs nothing.

  • If the version is correct, we confirm by email that the build is starting.
  • If the verification shows that your car needs a different engine version, we contact you before anything is built. You then choose either to approve the change, in which case any price difference is settled before the build starts, or to cancel with a full refund including the deposit.
  • If we cannot deliver the right engine for your car, we will refund the full amount, including the deposit.

2.3 When the contract is formed

A binding contract is formed when we send the order confirmation. If the VIN verification leads to a change under point 2.2, the contract applies with the change you approved.

2.4 Build start and order lock

The engine is built to order. When your engine version has been verified and the build starts, we notify you by email. From the start of the build, the order can no longer be changed or cancelled under point 7.1. Your statutory right of withdrawal under point 7.2 is not affected by this point.

3. Prices

All prices in the shop are stated in Swedish kronor and include VAT. For exchange engines, a core deposit is added, shown as a separate line on the product page and at checkout (see point 8). Any shipping cost is shown at checkout before you pay (see point 5.5).

The price that applies to your order is the one shown at the time you order. Later price changes do not affect an order already placed.

We reserve the right to correct obviously incorrect prices, for example resulting from technical errors or typing mistakes. A price that you realised or should have realised was obviously incorrect is not binding on us. If we discover such an error, we will contact you as soon as possible, and you then always have the right to cancel with a full refund.

4. Payment

You can pay by card or Klarna, with the option of instalments subject to a standard credit check. Klarna's own terms apply to Klarna's services, and Klarna is independently responsible for its own credit check. Business customers can apply to pay by invoice after a credit check.

Payment is made at the time of ordering. The engine price and the core deposit are charged at the same time, as separate lines.

5. Delivery

5.1 Built to order

All exchange engines are built to order, we do not sell from stock. The lead time is the time it takes to build, quality assure and carry out the final check on your specific engine.

5.2 Lead time

Normal lead time is about 1 week from your engine version being verified against the VIN and the build starting, up to 2 weeks during high workload. The lead time shown at checkout for your purchase applies to your order: during high workload or holiday periods a longer lead time may already be shown before you pay, and that is then the time that applies. You get an update at every step: when the build starts, when the engine is on its way, and when it has been delivered.

5.3 How the engine is delivered

The engine is delivered after final inspection from our workshop in Tyresö, on a pallet by truck with a tail lift. Delivery is made to the property line or another location accessible by truck, at a workshop with a loading dock the pallet is unloaded there. The carrier will notify you on the phone number you provided at purchase. An engine often weighs 150-250 kg, so plan for how you will move it on from the pallet.

5.4 Collection in Tyresö

You can collect the engine from us free of charge at Studiovägen 1A, 135 48 Tyresö, Sweden. We will let you know when the engine has passed final inspection and is ready for collection. At collection you can hand over your old engine at the same time, see point 8.4.

5.5 Shipping cost

Shipping and the shipping cost are shown at checkout before your order is completed, so you always know the total cost before you pay.

5.6 Risk for the goods and transport damage

Risk for the goods passes to you once you have taken possession of it, or at collection once you have picked it up. Damage that occurs during transport to you is therefore our responsibility.

Please check the packaging before you sign for the delivery and note any visible damage on the consignment note, this makes things easier to handle. Contact us as soon as possible if anything looks damaged. Your right to complain is not affected by you having signed for the delivery, or by a note being missing from the consignment note.

6. If delivery is delayed

Sometimes a build takes longer than expected, for example due to a shortage of components, high demand or a holiday period in production. In that case, the following applies:

  1. 1We will notify you on our own initiative, before the promised delivery time has expired, with the genuine reason and a new estimated delivery time (a reasonable extended period).
  2. 2If the new time does not work for you, contact us and we will try to find a solution together.
  3. 3If we do not deliver within the reasonable extended period, you have the right to cancel the purchase. You may also have the right to cancel without an extended period if the delay is of material significance to you and we realised or should have realised this, or if you made clear before the purchase that delivery by a certain date was decisive for you.
  4. 4If the purchase is cancelled, we refund the full amount, including the deposit, without undue delay.
  5. 5Under konsumentköplagen (the Swedish Consumer Sales Act) you may be entitled to compensation for documented additional costs the delay has caused you.

7. Cancellation and right of withdrawal

7.1 Free cancellation until the build starts

Until your engine version has been verified and the build has started (point 2.4), you can always cancel free of charge, regardless of reason. We will then refund the full amount, including the deposit, without undue delay. Cancel by replying to the order confirmation or by calling us on 076-324 10 66.

This is a voluntary commitment from us that applies in addition to, and never instead of, your statutory right of withdrawal under point 7.2.

7.2 Statutory right of withdrawal, 14 days

As a consumer you have a 14 day right of withdrawal when you shop at a distance, under lagen (2005:59) om distansavtal och avtal utanför affärslokaler (the Swedish Act on distance contracts and off-premises contracts). The withdrawal period is calculated from the day you, or someone you have named, receives the goods. You may examine the goods to the extent needed to establish their nature and function, in the same way as in a physical shop.

7.3 How to use the right of withdrawal

  1. 1Tell us within 14 days of receiving the goods that you are withdrawing from the purchase: email info@meksta.se or call 076-324 10 66. You can use Konsumentverket's (the Swedish Consumer Agency) standard form for exercising the right of withdrawal (available at konsumentverket.se), but this is not a requirement, a clear statement is enough.
  2. 2Send the engine back within 14 days of your notification. The engine must be packaged and strapped down on a pallet, preferably the pallet and packaging from the delivery.
  3. 3We will refund the full amount, including the core deposit and the standard delivery cost, within 14 days of your notification. However, we may wait to make the refund until we have received the engine back, or you have shown that it has been sent back. If you chose a more expensive delivery option than our standard one, the difference is not refunded.

7.4 Return cost and reduction in value on withdrawal

  • You are responsible for the return shipping when you withdraw from the purchase. Because of its weight the engine cannot be returned as a normal parcel and is shipped on a pallet instead, the cost depends on the carrier, weight and distance. Contact us and we will help you book the return transport, and you will get an estimated cost before you book.
  • If the goods have been handled more than necessary to establish their nature and function, we may make a deduction for the reduction in value of the goods. For an engine this means, for example, that installing it in a vehicle, starting it or running it can result in a significant deduction for reduced value.

7.5 Right of withdrawal and the deposit

If you withdraw from the purchase, the deposit is also refunded in full. A core return is then not applicable.

8. Deposit and core return (exchange engines)

8.1 What the core deposit is

An exchange engine changes places with your old engine, the core. The deposit is added at purchase as security that the core is returned, and it is refunded under this point. The deposit amount is always shown on the product page and at checkout, before you pay.

8.2 Return deadline: 30 days

The core must be returned within 30 days of the delivery of your new engine. If you cannot make it in time, contact us before the deadline expires and we will normally extend it, an extension applies once we have confirmed it in writing (an email is enough). If the core is not returned within the deadline and no extension has been agreed, the deposit is not refunded.

8.3 Requirements for a full refund of the deposit

  • The engine block must be intact: no holes, no cracks and no broken-off pieces in the block or cylinder head.
  • The core must match the engine type you purchased and be returned complete as a longblock. The sump should not be sent with it, it is transferred to your new engine.
  • The engine must be drained of oil and coolant.

It does not matter that the engine is worn or internally defective. That is normal, and it is exactly why you are exchanging it.

8.4 How the core return works

  1. 1Pack the core on the pallet and in the packaging your new engine was delivered on. Keep the pallet and packaging from the delivery for this reason. Strap the engine down securely.
  2. 2Send the core to us. You arrange the return transport yourself, contact us at info@meksta.se or 076-324 10 66 if you would like guidance on transport options.
  3. 3If you collect your engine in Tyresö, you can hand over the core to us directly, for example at collection. It is then inspected on the spot and the refund is faster.

8.5 Inspection and refund

The core is inspected once it has reached us in Tyresö. If it meets the requirements in point 8.3, the full deposit is refunded. The refund is started within 5 working days of an approved inspection and is made primarily to your original payment method. If a refund to the original payment method does not go through, we will contact you and pay the amount to your bank account instead.

8.6 If the core is not approved

If the core does not meet the requirements in point 8.3, we contact you with photos and a decision before the deposit is finally dealt with. If the requirements are not met, the deposit is not refunded. If you object to the assessment, we consider the objection within 5 working days. You can also always turn to ARN under point 14.

9. Warranty: 12 months with no mileage limit

9.1 Scope

All exchange engines are delivered with a 12 month warranty with no mileage limit, calculated from the day of delivery. The warranty is voluntary and is given by Meksta AB as the seller, in addition to your statutory rights. The warranty covers faults in the engine's material or workmanship that appear during the warranty period.

9.2 Installation warranty included

If a warranty fault is confirmed on the engine, we also cover the installation work under these terms. You should not have to cover the workshop cost yourself when the fault is in the engine. The reimbursement covers the documented installation cost at a professional workshop and is capped at a maximum amount per engine type, the cap is stated on the warranty certificate that comes with the engine.

The installation warranty covers faults in the engine. Faults caused by the installation itself, or by reused surrounding components, are not covered by the warranty.

9.3 Conditions for the warranty to apply

  • The engine is installed in a workmanlike manner by a professional workshop.
  • The installation instructions supplied with the engine are followed, including changing the oil and filter, and addressing surrounding systems that may have caused or been affected by the original failure, for example cleaning or replacing the oil cooler, checking the turbo and injectors before reuse, and flushing the cooling system.
  • Documentation from the installation is kept (invoice and a description of the work carried out) and can be shown for a warranty claim.
  • At the first sign of a fault: stop driving and contact us straight away. Continuing to drive with a known warning sign can affect the warranty.

9.4 The warranty does not cover

  • Faults caused by incorrect installation.
  • Damage caused by reused surrounding components, for example a turbo, injectors, EGR valve or oil cooler, that damages the engine.
  • Faults caused by incorrect oil or fluid.
  • External damage or continued driving after a warning sign.

9.5 How to file a warranty claim

Contact us at info@meksta.se or 076-324 10 66 with your order number and a description of the fault. We may ask for supporting material such as fault codes, photos or video, and the documentation from the installation. We get back to you within one working day of receiving the material and handle the case all the way through: you have one responsible party, us.

9.6 The warranty never limits your statutory rights

The warranty applies in addition to, and never limits, your right to complain under point 10. We never reject a complaint on the grounds that the warranty period has expired, the warranty and the right to complain are two different protections and are assessed separately.

10. Right to complain: your statutory right for 3 years

As a consumer you always have a statutory right to complain under konsumentköplagen (2022:260) (the Swedish Consumer Sales Act) for 3 years from when you received the goods, regardless of the warranty. Faults that appear within 2 years of delivery are presumed to have existed at delivery, unless we can show otherwise. Complain within a reasonable time after discovering the fault, if you complain within 2 months it is always in time.

In the case of a justified fault you have the right to have it remedied or to a replacement delivery within a reasonable time and at no cost to you. If that does not happen, you have the right to a price reduction or, for a fault of material significance, to cancel the purchase. You may also be entitled to compensation for damage under konsumentköplagen (the Swedish Consumer Sales Act). For a justified complaint we bear the costs, including necessary transport.

How to complain: the same contact method as in point 9.5. State your order number and describe the fault, and we will take care of the case.

11. Liability and force majeure

Our liability to you as a consumer follows konsumentköplagen (the Swedish Consumer Sales Act) and other mandatory law. Compensation under these terms does not cover loss in the course of business.

We are not liable for failure to fulfil the contract to the extent that performance is prevented by circumstances beyond our reasonable control which we could not reasonably have foreseen at the time of purchase and whose consequences we could not reasonably have avoided or overcome, for example war, natural event, fire, extensive operational disruption, a government decision or industrial action. In the event of such a prolonged obstacle, both you and we have the right to withdraw from the contract, in which case amounts paid are refunded. Your statutory rights in the event of delay (point 6) are not affected.

12. Business customers

For purchases made in the course of business, the following applies instead of, or in addition to, the terms above:

  • Köplagen (1990:931) (the Swedish Sale of Goods Act) applies instead of konsumentköplagen. Points 7.2-7.5 (right of withdrawal) and 10 (right to complain for consumers) do not apply.
  • The warranty in point 9 also applies to business customers, on the same terms.
  • The business customer must examine the goods on receipt and report any fault within a reasonable time, but no later than within the warranty period.
  • Our total liability per order is limited to the price of the goods. We are not liable for indirect losses, for example loss of production, loss of profit or downtime.

13. Personal data

We process personal data, including registration numbers and chassis numbers (VIN), in order to fulfil your order. How we process personal data is described in our privacy policy.

14. Complaints and disputes

Contact us first. If you are unhappy with something we want to know: info@meksta.se or 076-324 10 66. We resolve most cases directly.

Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN), Sweden's National Board for Consumer Disputes. If we cannot reach an agreement, as a consumer you can file a complaint with ARN: Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm, Sweden, www.arn.se. We take part in ARN's proceedings, and our starting point is to follow ARN's recommendations.

Independent guidance. Free and independent consumer guidance is available from Hallå konsument (hallakonsument.se) and from your municipality's consumer advisors.

The EU's platform for online dispute resolution (ODR). The EU's former joint ODR platform was shut down on 20 July 2025, and the obligation to refer to it has ended. For cross-border disputes within the EU, you can get help from Konsument Europa (the European Consumer Centre).

Applicable law. Swedish law applies to the contract. Disputes are heard by a Swedish general court, with the statutory protections that apply for consumers.

15. Other

  • We may change these terms going forward. For an order already placed, the terms that applied at the time of ordering will apply.
  • Should any provision of these terms be declared invalid, in whole or in part, this does not affect the validity of the remaining terms.
  • The current version of the terms is always available on this page, marked with the version date.
